Investigator Milanes has been with the Virginia-Highland Security Patrol for about two years and has been in law enforcement since 2014. During that time, he has worked for Clayton County Police Department and is currently serving with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. According to Investigator Milanes, the best thing about being a police officer is helping people.
Growing up in Miami, Florida, he attended Miami High School and attended Clayton State University after moving to Georgia. When not working he spends time with his wife, eight-year-old daughter and a somewhat unusual assortment of pets. In addition to a dog, he also has a snake and a hamster.
When interviewed he offered up several safety tips for Virginia-Highland residents.
- Walk with a friend at night.
- Park in a well-lit area near other vehicles or in high pedestrian and vehicle traffic areas.
- Keep packages and valuables out of sight in your vehicle either under a seat, in a glove box, or in the trunk.
What might he be doing if he wasn’t serving in law enforcement? He told us he would be a college professor. If you see Investigator Milanes out and about on patrol, ask him what subject he would teach – and don’t forget to say thank you for keeping us safe.
